Product Description
Why settle for vinyl speakers when you can have the warmth and beauty of real wood at the same price? RTi Series features real wood at vinyl prices. Clean lines and radiant metallic details contribute to the superior fit and finish of the new RTi Series Bookshelf Loudspeakers. They deliver superior dynamic impact in smaller cabinet sizes, with no lack of patented Polk Audio technologies, for use as main/front speakers, or direct radiating surround speakers, in high performance A/V or music-only systems. Acoustically inert, asymmetrically braced 3/4" MDF cabinets, finished in Real Cherry Wood or Real Black Oak veneers. Dynamic Balance polymer composite driver for smooth wide-range response with low distortion. Power Port bass venting for superior clean, low distortion bass that you can really feel. Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC Port) technology for more natural midrange reproduction. 1" silk dome Dynamic Balance tweeter features a neodymium magnet for clear, detailed highs; heat-sinked for superior heat dissipation, power handling and reliability. Power Port vent doubles as a strong, built-in wall-mounting bracket for easy, safe placement. Butyl rubber surrounds for high performance durability. Acoustically inert stamped driver baskets. Floating anti-diffraction grilles minimize grille diffraction for spacious, 3-dimensional imaging. Magnetic shielding for safe placement near video sources. Mylar bypass capacitors in the crossovers extend high frequency response and improve detail and transparency. Dual, bi-ampable gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs (with wide holes for large-gauge bare wire connections) for the most secure connections and the most versatile wiring applications. (True bi-wire and bi-amp-ability!) Timbre-matched to fit into any Polk Audio home theater or multi-channel music system for a more realistic, more seamless

5 out of 5 stars A Great Little Speaker   June 25, 2004

I have played these with a 50 watt/channel receiver and a 125 watt/channel preamp/power amp setup. The RTi4's sounded great with both. They have very good bass for the size. The music sounds very natural. I recommend these highly, and I am pretty picky.

These speakers are top rate in sound quality! I use them for classical music and I find the mid to high frequencies to be excellent. As with all speakers this size, however, a subwoofer is necessary if you want the full range of bass to really rumble.

Compared to the sound quality of the mid-quality speakers from Polk Audio, the RTi4s are superior. Well worth the extra cost if you're a music lover.

I listened to these speakers at a store before buying them online. They don't quite have the full sound of a good floor standing speaker, but are very close in quality to my Infinity SM85s, which are excellent. Put a subwoofer with these and they are outstanding. If I had to, I could get by w/ out the woofer. I listened to quite a few bookshelf speakers and this was the best.

5 out of 5 stars A Short Review   May 29, 2007

Polk Audio has once again produced a "near perfect" speaker. This is the first bookshelf speaker I have purchased in about fifteen years, so I am not the authority I once was on "the latest and greatest" in all things audio, but I will tell you for the money this is one outstanding deal. The sound quality is exceptional!

5 out of 5 stars Great speakers for the price   February 16, 2007

I've been listening to these speakers for over a week and am highly pleased. My previous system was a sony stereo system 120 watts per channel. Not only do these speakers have better quality, but they are louder.

I don't normally write reviews for products that I purchase online, but I figured since I was so pleased I should share my experience. Definitely use good wires to hook these babies up or you wont exploit their full potential. The RTi's have good bass but I feel like I need to add a sub to feel lower frequencies. When I turn the bass up it's too straining on the speakers, hence a sub.

Can't wait to add a sub to this banging setup! No regrets!
